What is a VST plug-in?
VST plug-ins are generally run within a digital audio workstation (DAW) and provide the host application with additional functionality. Such plug-ins generally provide a custom GUI . The two main classes of VST plug-ins are VST instruments (VSTi) or effects. Harmony Improvisator is a VSTi plug-in.
What is a VST host?
A VST host is a type of audio software that allows implementing other pieces of audio software ("plug-ins") in a modular fashion if the plug-in is in the common VST format. The VST format is supported by many common digital audio workstations (DAWs), such as Cubase, Live, Studio One, FL Studio and many others.
Can I use Harmony Improvisator without host software?As Harmony Improvisator is a VST plug-in, it can only be run within VST host software. If you use Windows, you can use the freely available SAVIHost to launch Harmony Improvisator. For Mac, there is a free VST host named VSTLord.
Does Harmony Improvisator create sound itself?
Why does Harmony Improvisator not have a version number anymore?For us the best way to prevent piracy is to give people some additional value which they can not just download in a moment: We grant a free lifetime update service. Therefore version numbering is not necessary anymore as all customers will always be up-to-date automatically.
How will I know when an update of Harmony Improvisator is available?

Is there a Mac version of Harmony Improvisator?Yes, there is a version for Mac OS X. When you download the free demo or purchase the full version, you automatically receive both the Windows and the Mac version.
Does Harmony Improvisator work with Windows 64-bit?Yes, Harmony Improvisator does generally work on 64-bit systems. However, if you work with a 64-bit system we strongly recommend trying out the free demo version first before buying the full version to make sure it works on your system.
Does Harmony Improvisator work with Windows 7?Yes, Harmony Improvisator generally works with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Will an AU version of Harmony Improvisator be available soon?The fact that some sequencer software manufacturers exclude VSTi support for tactical reasons is annoying for their customers. An AU version of Harmony Improvisator is not planned for the near future. However, if you work on Mac, you can use the free VST host VSTLord. For Logic, there is a workaround to use Harmony Improvisator in this software: see “Can I use Harmony Improvisator in Logic?”.
Can I use Harmony Improvisator in Logic?Yes, there is a workaround that allows you to use Harmony Improvisator in Logic even though this host generally does not support VST plug-ins: Open Improvisator in the freely available VSTLord host, choose "OUTPUT: virtual MIDI port" in the Improvisator's GUI. Then start Logic and choose Improvisator as the input as you would choose your MIDI keyboard.
Can I use Harmony Improvisator with Pro Tools?Unfortunately the current version of Harmony Improvisator is not compatible with Pro Tools yet.
Does Harmony Improvisator work in Cubase 5 64-bit?The 64-bit version of Cubase 5 seems to have some problems with the VST bridge. Until now we have not managed to get Harmony Improvisator to work properly in this particular Cubase version, but we hope that this will change soon.
Is there a MIDI export option?Yes, you can easily export any created harmonic progressions as MIDI file. Simply click on the ‘Save’ button, and then choose ‘Save MIDI’. The generated MIDI file can be loaded in any audio software.
Can I route the output of Harmony Improvisator to an external synthesizer or sampler?Yes, this is easily possible in most VST hosts.
How can I right-click buttons on a Mac?Touch the track pad with two fingers while you are pressing the mouse button down.
Can I use Harmony Improvisator without a MIDI keyboard?Yes, absolutely. You can arrange harmonic progressions with Harmony Improvisator by using the mouse. If you have a MIDI keyboard available, however, you can trigger patterns or key changes with it.
Can I buy Harmony Improvisator from the US?Yes, of course. All orders are processed by a company called SWREG, and you have different payment options, including credit card or PayPal. You can buy Harmony Improvisator from any country. The total price varies according to your local tax.
Do you offer any student discounts?Yes, we offer full-time students a discount of 50% on the regular price. Please contact us for further information.
What is the ‘Extended Download Service’ offered during the purchase?All our orders are processed by a company called SWREG. If you choose their Extended Download Service they will charge you 9.05 EUR and in return retain a copy of your download for a period of a year, should you need it again in the event of loss, a computer crash, virus, etc. We explicitly do NOT recommend choosing this service. Simply contact us directly if you lose your copy of Harmony Improvisator.
Is the Reference Manual available in other languages than English?No, so far the Harmony Improvisator Reference Manual is only available in English.
How can I change the tempo in Harmony Improvisator?Harmony Improvisator is automatically synchronized with the host software, so if you want to change the tempo you have to do so in the host program.
